Maxwell Mojapelo Foundation

Preserving music history and cultural heritage and serving as a reference library and education resource for members of the community and academic institutions.

The Maxwell Mojapelo Foundation (MMF) was set up with the mission to preserve music history and cultural heritage and serve as a reference library and education resource for members of the community and academic institutions.

Max “The Mixer-Boy” Mojapelo, as he is affectionately known to his fans, has a burning passion to continue his legacy in broadcasting through the preservation of music history and cultural heritage.

To most of the older generation the legendary Max Mojapelo is synonymous with “radio”. A renowned afro-centric broadcaster, Max Mojapelo dominated the airwaves in a career spanning over four decades. His illustrious career as a multi-award winning radio legend includes serving as Station Manager for SABC’s Thobela FM. He endeared himself to his legion of listeners through popular shows like ‘Di Sale Malekelekeng’, ‘Mmino o a Bolela’, ‘Di Sa Fisha’ and most recently, ‘Afrika Ya Dinaledi’.

“Rutang bana ditaola, le se ye natšo badimong.” A profound African saying, and in this context, the driving force behind the formation of the Foundation.
